Tour Stop 108 - Beaverhead Brewing Company 6/13/2021
Beaverhead Brewing Company, 218 S. Montana St. Dillion MT 59725 #408-988-0011
Experience before you go . . .
Hopefully we've all done a road trip! Spring break, the year 1978 to Florida....drove down twice from Wisconsin with two separate groups, friends parents house...can you spell FREE and 12 cases of beer and a wet t-s.... Sorry to digress!! Back to road trips. We've all been on them. We start out full of energy and excitement, seeing new things, meeting new people and it doesn't matter how many miles or how many days. Our bodies seem to automatically charge our batteries with enough volts to carry us all through equally depleting our energy level throughout the trip. Beginning - full of it, middle - still full of it just not as much, close to the end - looking forward to getting home. You know what they say, whoever they are, home is where the heart is. With that said, Kat & I threw down our Covid masks, loaded up the car and along with 25 million of our closest friends all over the country and we hit the road!! Four weeks, 6100 miles, eleven different states, eight different hotels, four different friends homes and seven Hoppin Brewery Tours!!! Now that's a lot of drinking, eating and laughing! But hey, someone had to do it so why not us along with 25 million others! Now I'm not sure about that 25 number but it sure seemed like everywhere we went it was very crowded and very expensive.
As our trip went on I coined it, "The Fleecing of America"! Being conservative and believing in capitalism.....oh boy, just lost half my followers so I guess I'm down to 5!! News Flash.....there are conservatives that are not racists, have many liberal friends that they love and cherish and are generally good natured, happy people!! We are all on this planet together and we have to get along. The future depends on it!!! Wow, I don't have to see my therapist this week....yeah!! Sorry to digress! Algorithms, never wrote one, don't know how to, but I'm not a big fan!! All I know is when we're on the road and I'm on Hotwire looking at the "Hot Deal of the Day" over a 2 hour period back and forth, the price keeps going up, and up and up!! I get it, supply and demand! Economics 101 basic premise, I took it as a freshman in college. It's what this country was built on! And in the past year with Covid, a lot of small businesses are hurting so all I'm saying is, if you're traveling, see your banker before you leave!! Boy it's great to have your own blog....Lager Blogger here!!!
So on the second day of our 30 day road trip we stayed over in Dillion, Montana! Great little town that is absolutely beautiful!! Got a room at the Hotel Andrus in the little downtown walking distance to all things Dillion. After our self induced gin and tonic happy hour on the rooftop patio, Kat and I started our walk which consisted of three blocks to the Beaverhead Brewery.
After the front sign selfie we turned to go in and low and behold there was a saw horse sign saying there was a private party going on the brewery was close!! Drat, foiled again!! But Kat, who is never deterred, went up to the front door glass and peaked in, and to our surprise the wedding party that was having the get together waved us in....yeah team!!
First of all Beaverhead was named after the Dillion Beaverhead Brewery of the 1890's and the early 1900's that finally closed when Prohibition started (13 years without Beer, major torture). A local boy, Brett Maki from Dillion who cut his teeth in all things brewery up in Seattle for 10 years and in 2011 moved back to Dillion to start Beaverhead. Here's a fabulous VIDEO. As we walked in the expansive feel of the tall ceilled 100 year building made'cha feel like you were home, big but warm and the smiles of the wedding party and especially Danica behind the bar was very welcoming! Since we got there at 7:30 and they close at 8:00 Kat and I ordered a pint each, sat back and took it all in! I went with their Beaverslide IPA (6.7%, 70 IBU) floral, delicious aroma and hoppy but not overwhelming, refreshing summertime beer. Kat being a light gal ordered their Poindexter Pilsner (4.8%, 12 IBU) light, crisp, clean....delightful!!
Every little town needs a hometown brewery where locals can gather, have a beer, laugh and talk about anything they want but in Dillion it mostly centers around fly fishing, ranching and farming!! It's a beautiful thing!! Beaverhead in Dillion, Montana is a must stop and when you're there, slow down, turn off your phone and take it all in....you'll be glad you did!!!
Until next time and remember.....
Go get'cha one!!!
