Experience before you go . . .
I know I travel a lot! Life's too short to stay at home and play sudoku all day long. Boys weekend, Montana, beautiful Montana....Jay, Pepi, Marc and yours truly set this weekend up in a matter of an hour texting back and forth. Delta was our plane and eating, drinking and having fun was our name! Jay and his beautiful bride Ann bought a cabin in the woods right outside of Kalispell, Montana which is a stone's throw from fabulous Glacier National Park. God's country is loud and proud, people!! Jay and Ann had been Montana chilling for better part of a week up there and the plan was the day Ann was flying out, we were flying in! And the cool part was we overlapped for just enough time for all of us to have lunch at Sacred Waters Brewery right down the road from the airport.....cool beans baby, cool beans!!!
Scared Waters is in a pretty neat spot, right off the main Hwy and it shares the building with Glacier Sun Winery which is right next door. So we parked and piled out of the crew cab truck. Front sign selfie with all of us looking like true Montanans and of course little Ann surrounded by the bunch of bruisers! Pepi, who was in the background, according to my son looked like an old prospector guy!! We were all wired for sound. In we went and we found a big table right in the middle. Menus were flying and Mattie behind the bar was helping us and beer and food were ordered. It was a little chaotic but I know what I ordered, The Bob IPA (6.5%, 65 IBU) tropical, pine and citrus. Some of the other standouts were Guts and Grits Pale Ale (5.6%, 40 IBU) juicy, melon and balanced; Hungry Horse Hazy IPA (6.5%, 40 IBU) smooth, orange and stone fruit; Little Salmon Fire - Pepper Ale (5.8%, 18 IBU) light, poblano and serrano, and Secret Waters - Experimental Juicy IPA (7.4%, 60 IBU). I was just drinking my lunch since this was a boys weekend but a couple three soups of the day bowls were being passed around and I saw this as a great time to walk the grounds, take some pics and meet some locals. Like you'd expect in Montana, your fair share of taxidermy moose heads, mountain goats, reference to flyfishing and a Bull Trout bulletin board.
I was getting some bowls of snacks and started talking to a friendly couple at the end of the bar. He caught my attention with his slightly worn out cowboy hat! Sid and Brenda were from the area and couldn't be nicer! Shout out to you both!!
We had a great time at Sacred Waters! We finished up and it was time to get Ann back to the airport for her flight. Nice way to kick off the Boys from Tucson's Montana Weekend. Check out Sacred Waters, you'll be glad you did!!
Until next time and remember.....
Go get'cha one!!!
