Experience before you go . . .

You guessed it, Scottie and I had one more in us so we powered through to the Desert Beer Company. Scottie being a local now he had the directions figured out so instead of making a few wrong turns and a couple fly bys we went right to the Desert Beer Company and I was just along for the ride. We jumped out of the car like Bo and Luke Duke of the Dukes of Hazard, gave each other a head nod and a thumbs up and headed for door but not before the patented front sign selfie was complete.

First thing you see and smell is a heavy duty shelf to the left where a number of 50# bags of oats, malt and rye are stacked for future use. I love customer exposure to the inner workings of a brewery. Further in you have a large industrial space from floor to ceiling with hi tops and chairs to the right and the straight bar front and center. And behind the bar you have Devon, the hard working owner with a big smile and a firm handshake and a nice "How you doing and whatcha drinking"! Watching Devon you can tell he's the epitome of a first class brewery owner. All the customers that came in, Devon greeted them by their names and talked to them as if they were good friends. One guy who got a hug over the cash register was there to pay a 200 oz party keg bill that Devon remembered but had to be reminded about. We're talking great customers here that appreciate Devon and Devon appreciates them! I think Devon found his passion and because of this he'll never work a day in his life.

Now if you're a hazy IPA guy like I've become the Desert is the place for you. You have the 7SixOhhhh - Hazy IPA (6%) or the HazyMosa - Hazy IPA with Grapefruit (6.5%) or Lazy Sauce - you guessed it.....Hazy IPA (7.5%) being a Hazy IPA guy that likes his hazy to pack a punch I went with the Lazy Sauce and I gotta ya, it was far from being lazy....lemon, lime, bready malts with a dry finish. Scottie went with the PoPo's Porter (5.5%) dark, chocolate, hints of coffee....tasty!!

Now one small world story was that Scottie had befriended a young man who worked at Mission Hills golf course and got to know his family and Devon being born and raised in the Valley knew the young man and the family so Scottie and Devon were sharing stories on how great the family was....."Life is Good" baby!!!

Scottie and I sat at the bar enjoying our brews and just taking it all in and up walks Derich & Jessica with a bag full of fresh beef jerky. So you know I just had to inject myself into the conversation. Come to find out that D&J have been suppling Devon with jerky for some time now. So of course I get my pick of the fresh jerky and I went with the Sweet & Spicy. Then waiting in line was Elvis....now this Elvis had a leash around his neck and he was a rescue Scottish Terrier. You just never know who you'll see at the Desert Brewery!

I just had to include this recent interview on Craft Beer I.E. written by Andrew Smith....... https://craftbeerie.com/desert-beer-company-palm-desert-devon-sanchez-interview/

Until next time and remember......

Go get'cha one!!
