Experience before you go . . .

As my favorite country western singer Willie Nelson would sing, "On the road again, just can't wait to get on the road again"! Well there you have it, Tucson hot, beautiful California coastal Hwy #1 heading to Oregon, not so hot. So once again we pack way too much stuff, gas up the car and point it in the direction of Southern California. My godchild and niece Taylor was getting married to Zach in Cave Junction, Oregon and we just had to be there...another one of those Life Celebrations!

First day we made it to Santa Clarita which lends its name to the Netflix series staring Drew Barrymore where she turns into a ghoulish, flesh eating monster with a diet of folks living in Santa Clarita...so needless to say we made sure our door was triple locked including the dead bolt...no pun intended!! Next day we drove to Santa Rosa with a wine tasting detour in Paso Robles at the Eberle Winery. Enjoyed the wine so much we walked out with a six pack. Now because of all the cities starting with Santa in California I felt like Christmas was upon us and we'd wake up the next morning to a filled Xmas stocking with more Santa gifts under the TV...but no luck, just an inflated hotel receipt shoved under the door...bummer!! But the nite spent in Santa Rosa was a good one with a tour of the 3 Disciples Brewing and then some fab Mexican food at La Rosa | Tequileria & Grille.

Okay now, the 3 Disciples Brewing is located right on Mendocino Avenue which is a popular place for restaurants and shopping and from the outside the 3 Desciples building is very deceiving and looks like a small place. But once you're in it goes on and on and on. Reminded me of Alice in Wonderland falling down the rabbit hole, but of course I'm not calling myself Alice! But once you're in 3D there's a long bar and at the end you continue around to a larger sitting area and then beyond that there's an indoor venue with a rather large stage and room for a couple hundred concert goers...it's crazy!!

But it was a Monday nite so no AC/DC rocking on stage in fact besides Kat & myself I believe there were maybe 2 other beer connoisseurs and that was it. So we made our temporary home sitting at the bar and preceded to order a craft beer. Adam from behind the bar took our order. I went with the Meet the Simcoes - Hazy IPA (6.3%, 30 IBU) light, refreshing, easy to drink IPA. Kat ordered up the Petite Freq - Belgium Blonde (5.6%) slight banana and crisp...enjoyable!

To my right we have Matt who was drinking an awesome ice cold IPA craft beer. Since the 3 Disciples beer offerings on this particular day was 12 total and 6 are IPA's my mathematical quirky smart brain says there's a 50% chance you'll be ordering a frothy ice cold IPA. Like they say, not sure who they are but math is everywhere….good thing I didn't sleep through my Algebra 1&2, Geometry 1&2, Calculus 1&2, Differential Equations and of course Statistics 1&2!! Had a good talk with Matt who in mid life is changing things up a little bit with a change of scenery and he seems pretty happy about it. Nothing but sunny days in your future my friend!!

When in Santa Rosa you gotta check out the 3 Disciples! If you love IPA's and like to catch a concert of local talent the D is the place to B!!

Of course on the way out I noticed their retail 4 & 6 pack beer frig and low and behold there was a 4 pack of the IPA I was drinking, "Meet the Simcoes". Boy howdy was it a cool can with some awesome graphics so I had to circle back and buy me one! Happy Hour beer when I get back to Tucson...Life's little pleasures!!

Until next time and remember......

Go get'cha one!!
