Experience before you go . . .

"Who wants to go to Santa Fe for the weekend"? I think I need to get me some of dat!! And thats how it all started. Our friends Jay & Ann who just recently started dipping their toes into the private plane industry wanted to try out the service so they invited us and 2 other couples to join them for a weekend adventure to Santa Fe. Won't get into all the details of the flight there and back but all I say is Ooh La La!!!

We all stayed at the Hotel Santa Fe, now if it was called the Santa Fe Hotel it would of been $100 less per nite but that way of putting the Hotel in front of the city name makes it feel chic and boutique and like I said...one hundski more!! But it was a real nice hotel and we've stayed there before when we were road trippin between Naperville and Tucson, plus they have a free shuttle that will take you anywhere. So we all settled in and then met in the lobby to head out for some Santa Fe Mexican food and in Santa Fe it's all about the chili...red or green!! Pretty easy to figure out that red is hot and green is mild and it's some good eatin, I don't care who you are!!

Now Santa Fe is all about the Art Galleries, the food and the shopping, so the ladies were getting into the shopping which freed the guys up to seek out a brewery for some craft beer fun! I was leading the group staring at my gps on my phone and I think we only got lost once but the craziest thing was that Desert Dogs was on the second floor and there was a small kiosk with a young chap manning the fort, and I was heading up the stairs and I turned and asked the kiosk guy, "It says that Desert Dogs is on the second floor so how do you get there"? Kiosk guy,"Just go up the stairs"! I felt like I was going to be featured on the next, Bill Engvall: Here's Your Sign, video but as I've learned with all my life experiences over 60 years worth you just can't take yourself too seriously and you gotta be able to laugh at yourself which I've done many times over the years!! So up the stairs we went and low and behold the front door to Desert Dogs. Front sign selfie and in we went. Small bar to the left and table and chairs to the right going around the corner so of course there were 4 empty bar stools hugging the corner of the bar and we grabbed'em!!

Young lady with a big smile was taking our beer orders faster then a corn detasseler in the middle of July in Northern Illinois, and I gotta tell you that's fast! I ordered the Bell Ringer IPA - American IPA (6.5%, 80 IBU), David went with the Mexican Lager - (4.5%), Marc wet his lips with the Dr. Strangehop IPA - (7.0%, 75 IBU) and Jay ordered the Steam Lager (5.0%). We all enjoyed our beers, the Bell Ringer and Dr. Strangehop were hoppy favorites and made us hoppy!! I know, 3rd grade joke!

Well we didn't spend a whole bunch of time in the Desert Dog but we sure enjoyed it. It has a cozy feel with friendly people, what more can you ask for!! Definitely check it out when in Santa Fe!!

Until next time and remember......

Go get'cha one!!
