Experience before you go . . .

I know it seems like the Hoppin Brewery Tour was on an extended vaca or maybe even out to lunch or heaven forbid, out of business. But I can tell you in good faith that both Brad and I are still drinking beer with smiles on our faces but just haven't set foot in a new untoured brewery, until recently! So no worries we've been hittin it hard, traveling and drinking cold ones to bring you some new "Experience before you go" so you know where to find your next beer!!

Okay, here's how it played out. Kat, my beautiful wife and I planned and paid for a River Cruise on the Douro River in Portugal three years ago and because of covid and me not getting the jab we could not go on the trip. Until May, 2023 all travel bans and vac requirements were dropped like a hot potato, so we were able to go have some fun...more on this later (the trip, not the potato). So long story longer, we flew out of Phoenix to Lisboa, Portugal and stopped by Four Peaks in Tempe for a beer and some eats the nite before we boarded an early flight.

Don't know if you've heard of Four Peaks but it's big. Kilt Lifter, Scottish - Style Amber Ale is their flagship brew that is almost everywhere you go. So when in Tempe you got to go try the Lifter! Street parking and more in the back, I locked up the car and in we went. But first the patented Front Sign Selfie! Crowded with a lot of smiling beer lovers and a good mix of families with kids. Big space and it appears to have been expanded through the years because of growth and demand for good craft beer. We move through the bar area where there's a variety of hi tops, tables and stools and mosey down to some hi tops that run along the side of a number of big fermentation tanks lined up which is pretty cool. We get comfortable and up walks Wanda to take our order. We're thirsty and hungry so we're perfect customers. I order the Hazy IPA - Hazy Indian Pale Ale (6.5%) dry hopped with guava and passion fruit...she's a winner. Kat had to go with the Kilt Lifter (when in Rome, or in this case Scotland) - Scottish Ale (6.0%)...hard to beat their description, malt forward with flavors of roasted barley and caramel... delightful!! We also ordered a half order of Peaks Nachos with pulled pork...yummy and definitely enough for two.

I can see why Four Peaks is so successful, great beer, great food and great service!! The three essentials for sticking around. Go get'cha a six pack if you live in Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico, Hawaii, Texas, California, Colorado or Utah but if demand has anything to do with it it will probably be coming to a store near you!! Go ahead, lift your kilt and see how far you can toss a telephone pole!!

Until next time and remember......

Go get'cha one!!!!!!!
