"Hi Brad, it's Clyde how's it going?" "Pretty good". "How's the job hunting going?" "I have some options cooking, it's only a matter of time". "Great, ready to continue the Brewery Tour?" "You bet!" "How about Granite City over by me for lunch?" "Sounds good, I'll pick you up and we'll head to Granite City" "Excellent!"......... Now a little side note, Brad is a tall guy and needs a car with some leg room so he took over a black, needing some love, 1991 Cadillac from his son in law. Repairs done, sweet ride for the brewery tour!!!

So Brad picked me up in the sweet ride and we headed for Granite City. Since it's only 5 minutes away from my house it was a short ride but still sweet!! Now Granite City Food & Brewery, what Brad and I call a Brew Pub (tap room with food) is relatively new to the Naperville restaurant scene. I'm thinking it was built, fully staffed and pouring beer starting mid 2014. The building is very nice digs, stand alone property right in the thick of north Naperville, Hwy 88 & Freedom Drive corridor where everyone wants to be.

Alright, you got to love a place where the first thing out of the bartenders mouth, of course after all the meets and greets, is beer flight!! I don't know how long the beer flight has been in existence, probably since the Wright Brothers, but it's a beautiful thing, I don't care who you are!! "Line'em up and show me what ya got"!! Now I'm kind of a hoppy, IPA kind a guy and my buddy Brad, who also likes IPA but leans toward the darker stouts and unusual, one off "you can't get this anywhere else" type of beer. So we scheduled our flights, got comfortable on our padded bar stools with seat backs up and prepared for take off!! Both flights we chose had a combination of their signature brews. The Duke (Pale Ale) with its nice balance of hops and malt was a smooth take off and as we gained altitude we ran into a little welcomed turbulence with the Batch 1000 (Double IPA) and its assertive (hoppyness-love that word), big citrus and hint of pine. As we settled in at 35,000 feet The Bennie (Bock) offered up malty, nutty sweetness with subtle hints of Carmel and our approach and landing was perfectly executed with the help from the Broad Axe (Oatmeal Stout)..........yeah buddy!!!!! Now as we taxied to our gate it felt like the plane took a lighting strike. Now all kidding aside, it was a palatial downpour outside. So it was a beautiful setting, raining cats and dogs outside and sipping great tasting brews inside........got to love it!!!

So Granite City served it up, friendly staff, good food and beer selection and a nice warm bar that didn't leak!

Until next time and remember......

Go get-cha one!!!!!
