Tour Stop 29 - Minocqua Brewing Company - 7/15/2017
Minocqua Brewing Company, 238 Lakeshore Dr., Minocqua, Wi, 54548
Experience before you go............
"That's where we're going tomorrow night", as Clark points to the Minocqua Brewing Company from the captain's chair of his Ski Nautique. Here we are, it's a beautiful sunny day, were tooling around Lake Minocqua in Clark's boat checking out all the lake houses, sun bathers and other boats and we motor right by MBC. What a great location for a brewery, right on the lake.
It's been a couple years since we've been up to visit my best buddy Clark. We always look forward to it and we always have a great time. Clark was our Best Man at our wedding 31 years ago and he's one of those friends you'd do anything for.....except run naked on a frozen lake in the middle of December! Well Saturday was upon us and the plan was to meet some friends at MBC at 5:00 to drink some brews and listen to Clark's friend Gary who was on the piano. Now for some wild haired reason my wife Kat wanted to go Zip Lining beforehand and talked Clark into joining her but I decided to take a rain check. Northwoods Zip Lines, 9 separate zip lines which takes you 2 1/2 hours to complete and definitely designed for the adrenaline junky.
Thank God everyone survived the Time to head to the Minocqua Brewing Company. One thing I love about our Hoppin' Brewery Tour is when we travel around this beautiful country and visit family and friends and we're able to fit in a Tour Stop we are actually freezing time by taking some pictures and writing about our experience....kind of like a time capsule to visit later. Well we did the out front sign selfie and we headed for the door. As you enter MBC you have a choice, either upstairs to the Taproom or downstairs to the Dining Room. We chose the Taproom where you have the bar along the wall to the right, high top and chairs to your left and straight ahead to the left you have a raised stage with a piano and then a wall of windows looking out to Lake Minocqua...very nice!! Gary and his wife, Mary Sue greeted us with open arms...great people! We had a table of three wiser, very classy women, one being Mary Sue's mom, all who have lived in Minocqua most of their lives. Did someone say beer? MBC has a full line-up of great craft beers. To name a few they have Whitey's Wheat - Pale Wheat Ale (5.2% ABV), Minocqua Pale Ale - American Pale Ale (5.4% ABV), Road Kill Red Ale - Red Ale (7.4% ABV) or Bear Naked Brown Ale - Brown Ale (6% ABV).
In walks Patty and everyone knows her. Come to find out that Patty lives in Southlake, Texas and has a summer home up here in Minocqua. Hey wait a minute, Kat and I use to live in Southlake. "You don't know Robert and Patti from Southlake?" "Well of course I know Robert and Patti." We didn't even use their last name.....we live in a very small world, people!
We had a great time at MBC and it's a must stop if you're either vacationing up in the Northwoods or if you call the friendly little town of Minocqua home.
Until next time and remember.........
Go get'cha one!!
