Experience before you go............

The Grand Tetons, never been there, never seen them, only heard of some old guys and girls referring to them as a certain part of a women's anatomy. So two months shy of my 60th birthday, finally got a chance to see the Grand Tetons.....WOW, they were magnificent!!!

And the crazy thing about it, it was as if they had planned for our arrival, because there is was....the Grand Teton Brewery. I was looking for the welcome marquis outside or the chalk board inside saying, "Welcome Hoppin Brewery Tour" but no luck. But Collin behind the bar was much better than a stinking old sign. The Grand Teton Brewery had it going on! Collin serving it up, nice cozy tap room and a great line up of some cold, complex craft brews.....what more could a beer guy ask for? Well how bout the coolest commemorative pint glass ever! There it was, tie dye rubber with the brewery logo. Had to buy one and drink beer out of it while I'm wearing my tie dye bandana...Hippy mania and the 60's baby, peace!

Between Kat and I we tasted Lost Continent - Double IPA (7.7%), Bitch Creek - American Brown Ale (6.0%), Teton Range - IPA (6.5%) and 208 - Golden Session Ale (4.7%). I chose the Teton Range - IPA, one of their year-arounds. Idaho 7 hops, pungent aromas of tropical fruits like mango and papaya with hints of pine, crisp balanced flavors, delicious and very drinkable! Kat went with the 208 - Golden Session Ale, crisp, light malt body with subtle citrusy hop character, all 100% Idaho ingredients and the name 208 is Idaho's state wide area code....way good and way cool.

To my left we have MadTown, UW Madison graduate who came west for the skiing and stayed. MadTown is the name I gave him, senior moment...forgot his actual name. He said Jackson Hole was for the tourists and Grand Targhee was for the purists! Averaging 500" of snow a year so come on out and give it a try and don't forget your snorkel.

Grand Teton has been brewing beer since 1988 and it can be found in over 14 states with Illinois being one of them. Twenty-nine years of doing a lot of things right so next chance you get pick up a 6 pack and take a short mental trip to the Grand Tetons......refreshing and they're magnificent!!

Until next time and remember.........

Go get'cha one!!
