Experience before you go............

Jackson Hole, Wyoming is the place to be if you have a cool million or two for a basic 1 bedroom, 1 bath, 800 sq. ft. condo. Okay, maybe it's not that bad but it's pretty pricey. You know you're in the high rent district when walking the town square you find 3-4 very expensive art galleries and there is a $20,000 original painting on the wall with a list of 6 people that want to buy it. But you know what? The small skiing town is absolutely beautiful and it's one of a kind. Situated between the Teton Mountain Range and the Gros Ventre Range in Wyoming, early mountain men and trappers who entered the region from the north and east had to descend along very steep slopes, giving the sensation of entering a hole....thus the name Jackson Hole.

Kat and I spent this beautiful sunny day meandering through the cute little town square, hiking some nearby trails and just kinda taking in the whole fabulous area. The town square features arches made of elk antlers that the elk shed every year in the winter and early spring in the nearby National Elk Refuge.

By the end of the day we both were pretty spent and I've got to give a shout out to my best friend for over 32 years....my wife Kat! For the ones who are fortunate enough to know her, heart of gold, a real friend and you want her on your side! And she prefers wine over beer any day but continues to join me on one brewery tour after another....that's what love is all about!!

Well you guessed it, tired, hungry and thinking hard about heading to the house I say, "There's a very cool brewery right down this street, what do you think"? As we pull up to the Snake River Brewing Co. I like it already. The grass courtyard with miniature golf off to the side, Adirondack chairs around a fire pit and a game of bags speaks volumes of "Grab a beer with friends for fun and chilling". Front sign selfie by the sticker-ridden water tank and in we go. The place was hoppin! Production to the left and bar to the right. Two bar stools with our names on them call us over and bing bang boom, Hoppin Brewery Tour strikes again. Ally with a big smile greets us, I hand her a HBT card, introduce ourselves and Ally starts handing us samples. Between the two of us we taste Alpha Prime - American IPA (7.5%, 70 IBU), Rob Still Sucks - Superior IPA (9.5%, 100 IBU), Jenny Lake Lager - Vienna Style Lager (4.8%, 20 IBU) and the Snake River Pale Ale - American Pale Ale (5.2%, 40 IBU). I go with the Rob Still Sucks, always bitter, never smooth with a big dank tropical hop nose. Since we hiked beautiful Jenny Lake and Kat loved it she chose Jenny Lake Lager.

Up walks Chris, the manager of everything beer, Ally pointed us out to him and Chris was nice enough to come over and introduce himself. Snake River was Wyoming's first brew pub and opened its doors in 1994 and Chris has been here for almost all of those. We talked beer, trends and competition. Between the food service, beer and the production they have over 100 employees...now that's an operation.

Now one of the coolest things they have, which was on the second floor and I've not seen this anywhere else was an ice bar. An embedded ice strip running the length of the bar designed to keep your beer cold. Place your pint on it and boom it works, cold beer!

Well we finished our beer and asked for the bill and Ally tells us that Chris comped our pints! One of Brad's and my goals when we first started this over a year ago, was to obliviously had fun but maybe we'll drink for free. Can you wrap your head around that.....drink for free! Well almost 40 breweries later, Chris and Snake River Brewing are the first to comp our brews. Thank you Chris!

As their logo says, Work Hard, Play Hard, Beer Hard. SRB has been doing this for over 20 years and based on all the smiles and positive vibes they'll be doing it for another 20 and beyond.

Until next time and remember.........

Go get'cha one!!
