Experience before you go . . .
Brad and I were in rare form. Blue logo shirts, a thirst for adventure and endless brewery possibilities! Miskatonic was on the radar! Little did they know what was about to hit them! The Hoppin' Brewery Tour was on the move!
Bingo, there it is, located way in the back of a retail industrial park and there was a food truck parked right outside the door. Brad & I instantly feel right at home. After 62 brewery tours over a 2 1/2 year period, we've kinda marked our territory and gotten comfortable in it. It's like a favorite pillow or a comfy pair of shoes. You own it, you love it and you don't want it to wear out.
Patented out front sign selfie and we hit the door. Nice large space, straight ahead to the left we have the bar, to the right are high tops, behind the bar is production and if you continue through there's a another large separate room for private events. Brad and I take the two empty bar stools at the end and I hand the HBT promotion card to TJ with a quick introduction and Bing, Bang, Boom.....Hoppin' Brewery Tour strikes again!
TJ gets busy pouring a Miskatonic flight. Starting with the Shield Maiden - American Pale Ale (5.5%, 50 IBU) Simcoe and Cascade hops along with delicious malt backbone adds balance with notes of bread crust, citrus and tropical flavors. Next up we have Wise Fool - American IPA (7.0%, 65 IBU) four different hops....Styrian, Warrior, Centennial and Cascade give this IPA that hop head sought after finish. Next is The Cryomancer - IPA (7%) hoppy but balanced. Followed by the Epilogue IIPA - Imperial IPA (8.5%, 83 IBU) very drinkable for an imperial, Citra, Simcoe and Amarillo hops give this IPA a dry but balanced tropical fruit crush finish. Last we had the Baba Yaga - Imperial Brown, deep mahogany color with a bold roasted note, toffee, dark chocolate and espresso dominate this very drinkable full-bodied ale.
To my left and purchasing a case of Cryomancer - IPA we have Miskatonic Fan #1 and Fan #2......I had to include them because they were great and full of life and everyone there knew them.....except for me!!! To Brad's right we have "Yes, I'm getting married tomorrow right here at Miskatonic" fan # 3. Yes, I messed up this time on the no name thing but my heart was it, just not my pencil. (**Brad's note - Michael and Michelle are the happy couple to be. Michael's friend Leticia was also there) Anyhow he was not only having the ceremony here but the reception also. You got to love the community craft beer hang out and Miskatonic has got it going on.
During all this fun and cutting it up with all the follow beer lovers, I hustle outside to the Twisted Classics food truck and order two smoked pull pork sandwiches with white BBQ sauce....yes, I said white! Chef Erin brought it with these and boy they were really good and definitely hit the spot!
Miskatonic Brewing Company has brewed themselves into the inner fabric of this neighborhood with a solid lineup of beer, different food options and enough space for a lot of great events.
Until next time and remember.........
Go get'cha one!!
