Experience before you go . . .

Can't get enough of this Beer Drinking Buddy Brad guy. Brad and his wife Lynda made their bi-annual trek to the city in middle of the desert called Tucson, and between laughing, story telling, card playing, eating and drinking, a customary brewery tour was a must. It was like the good ole days going back 2 1/2 years when the four of us went on our very first Hoppin Brewery Tour to Lagunitas in Chicago. This was before we even had the website or the logo or the 15 extra pounds all gained from touring over 85 breweries in 15 different states.....that's a lot of beer! Well on the ride over we had our 2-3 times where we thought we were lost and then all of a sudden right in front of us was the little alley that led us right to the metal corrugated doors of the Public. We looked in and yes people were sitting at the bar and sipping craft beer...we have arrived. Patented front sign selfie now everyone squeeze in, and then we entered, all with grins on our faces not really knowing what to expect.

Bar running to our left, tables/chairs and shuffle board to our right, love the feel. It's as if someone turned a detached two car garage into a reputable brewery. Why didn't I think of that? Kat and Lynda took a right to the shuffle board and Brad and I took a left to the bar. Nice lady bartender who wanted to stay anonymous (we'll call her Nony) greeted us with a great smile and as it looks like it, a great line-up of craft beers. With the flight on its way, Brad struck a poise and a look of "whatcha ya looking at Willis" with the reflection of the sun perfectly over his eyes as if he's Bruce Lee as Kato playing the Green Hornet and wanting to kick some butt. Flight arrived, everyone's backside is still in one piece, time to taste what this Public Brewhouse is all about. Treway - Grapefruit Wheat (6.3%) cloudy, light and refreshing. Next we have Anthony Brown Ale - American Brown Ale (5.3%), low key nice brown, followed by Saison Noir - Dark Pale Ale (6.9%, 21 IBU) normally low alcohol but not this one...enjoy! Last we sip Cats in Space - American IPA (6.8%, 53 IBU) hoppy, citrus and nice finish.

I slip behind the proverbial curtain for some photo ops and run into Anthony. "Now you're not the Brown Ale guy are you"? Come to find out Anthony is the Master Brewer with a propensity to talk about his brews. Anthony breaks out in a tutorial about tanks, brew and ingredients....can you say HBT viral video.

While the lovely ladies play a competitive game of shuffle board, Brad and I finish up at the bar with some memorable stories and a couple laughs. We're digging the "Pay it Forward" drink board! Our job here is done!

Public Brewhouse is like the little engine that could, what I see is passion, courage and adventurous spirit of some folks that just wanted to brew beer and they knew that the space and smiles would follow.....gotta luv it!!

Until next time and remember.....

Go get'cha one!!!
