Experience before you go . . .

Well in retirement you're suppose to knock things off your bucket list and one thing on mine was a trip to the Grand Canyon in northern Arizona. Our son Jake was down for a visit so we packed up the car and pointed it north out of Tucson and settled in for the ride. An overnight stop at our dear friends house in Prescott was in order before we hit the canyon and of course a mosey down to the local brewery was a must.

Prescott Brewing Company which opened up in 1994 is right in the thick of it located downtown off of courthouse plaza. A location of parades, festivals and a lot of thirsty travelers. Featuring a very nice selection of craft beer with a 99% scratch kitchen to complement the tasty brews. The ladies were in an art gallery looking at expensive stuff on walls as the boys, Don, Jake and myself shuffled over to the Prescott Brewery. Front sign selfie and in we went. As we worked our way through the tables and chairs and past a wall to our left filled to the brim with awards and "that a boy" plaques for all to see and as we continued back and on the left was my favorite spot in any brewery......the bar!! Three empty bar stools were immediately occupied by yours truly. Comfy stools, cozy surroundings, what more could you ask for.....free beer!! Reminds me of the neon "Free Beer Tomorrow" sign that hangs in Barrio Brewing in Tucson, Arizona. Lorene greets us and I give her the once over Hoppin Brewery Tour intro with a promo card and Bing, Bang, Boom....HBT strikes again for the 85th time. And to think that Beer Drinking Buddy Brad wants to do 250!! I'm gonna have to wring my liver out at about 125. That's why I drink the iddy biddy ones and that's why I say, "everything in moderation" (almost everything, that is)!

Lorene started pouring because all three of us ordered flights and between all of us every craft beer Prescott had, we tasted! Some of the stand outs were Ponderosa IPA - intense hop flavor and higher alcohol content; Petrified Porter - chocolate and roasted coffee abound; Centennial E.S.B. (Extra Special Bitter) - English Style Ale (5.6%, 33 IBU) toasted malt flavor with very drinkable bitterness; Willow Wheat - American Style Hefeweizen (5.2%, 17 IBU) light and refreshing.........enjoyable drinking refined beer that has stood the test the time!! In the middle of all this beer tasting, Kat and Jan arrived carrying no framed expensive art so that was reason enough to drink some more beer. Funny thing, I don't know too many things in this world that aren't reason enough to drink another beer....of course we're talkin the iddy biddy ones!!

To my right we have John. John is an engineer who works for United Airlines and he specializes is Baggage Logistics. Young guy, divorced, a couple kiddos, he travels to all the airports to make sure the handling of our bags runs smoothly. It's an art and if, which is most the time, runs like it's designed to, you can compare it to a highly trained group of Irish Dancers. All in unison, not missing a beat and smiling all the time.....it's a beautiful thing! John finished his beer and headed towards the door...he had a flight to catch.

Prescott Brewing, I believe you've got it figured out and I wouldn't change a thing! Good for you guys and keep on keeping on!

Our friends Don and Jan's hospitality, as always was bar none! Next morning, some eats and some great coffee and we hit the road for the Grand Canyon. You didn't think I was going to let you go without a few pictures and words about the GC! One word, Spectacular, another word or words, stay away from the edge!

Until next time and remember.....

Go get'cha one!!!
