Tour Stop 88 - Wayzata Brew Works - 6/23/2019
Wayzata Brew Works 294 Grove Ln E, Wayzata, MN 55391
Experience before you go . . .
Brad's visit . . .
Located right on Lake Minnetonka in downtown Wayzata MN, Wayzata Brew Works is a beer haven for boaters. But don't delay, they're going condo! In operation for three years now, they been serving up craft brew to boaters and downtown shoppers alike. But they are looking for a new location since their building is coming down in the name of progress. Condos on the waterfront are replacing them and Wayzata Brew Works is going to find a new home. Wayzata beer drinkers received the recent news with much despair but remain hopeful the new location will still allow them to enjoy their great beer!
On a day when we were visiting Minnesota for a combined bridal and baby shower (not the same person), the ladies took over the house and us three guys just went out. Brad, Greg and Dale headed down to the lake for this tour stop. There was a street art show going on and parking was tough, but we enjoyed the walk through downtown Wayzata, down by the lake and boardwalk. A very lively community in the middle of Summer, we found our way to the brewery and nestled up to the bar. It was a great place with a fantastic view of Lake Minnetonka. For those of you needing to learn about Lake Minnetonka, it is an inland lake located 15 miles west of Minneapolis. At 14,528 acres, it is Minnesota's ninth largest lake and is very popular among boaters, sailors, and fishermen. And brewery visitors!
Kyle was behind the bar and was a little reluctant to participate too much in our tour stop. Maybe a little camera shy. But he served up some great beers! Brad had a flight with the Brut IPA - 6.8% ABV and 42 IBU, the Patrick Hazy IPA - 7% ABV and 20 IBU, the creamy Shanberry - 2.8 ABV and 8 IBU, the Black lager - 4.7 ABV and 14 IBU and finally the wonderful Imperial Stout - 12.5 ABV and 50 IBU. Dale and Greg had the Wayzata Bay IPA, 6.6%ABV and 40 IBU . We had a nice Pizza Kyle served us and then of course a second round.
Wayzata Brew Works has been gaining in popularity and growing and we sure hope their following keeps up with them as they re-locate. I don't know where it will be, but we'll check back when it happens and offer an update. Get down there while they're still on the lake! Good luck crew and keep on brewin!
Until next time and remember.....
Yes I will have another!
